Week 17: Wrapping It Up

 This course was very eye opening for me. I already somewhat understood that social media is beneficial to business, but I this course proved to me why it is. Over the course of this semester I started to realize that we need to use all our social media platforms to their full potential. I always just stuck with Instagram because that is what it felt like people used most. I know think that it felt that way because that is where we were posting most. If we had been posting as frequently on other platforms it wouldn't feel that way. Due to this we have made an effort to be more active and up to date on other platforms.

I have yet to see a direct impact on our business from social media. We are extremely busy this year, but I am not sure if that is because of social media specifically. It is most likely because now that restrictions are being lifted weddings and events that were postponed in 2020 and new events are both being booked in 2021. This makes for double the amount of work condensed into about 7 months, since it restrictions were just recently more relaxed. Even though I have yet to see a direct impact, I'm sure with more consistent use for a longer period of time I will notice an impact.

I view social media now as more of a marketing tool. I see it as a way for business to reach their audience. Social media has become less of a fun thing to do in my free time like it was when I was younger and more overwhelming. I have primarily stopped using it personally all together because it is no longer enjoyable. Social media just feels like a job now. With that being said, it's almost perfect because it is so beneficial for the business that it has become apart of my job. It is not necessarily apart of the job I love, but it isn't the worst aspect of work. 

Now that this course is coming to a close, I do have a better understanding of how to use it successfully to help our business. I have more knowledge about individual platforms and their special uses for business. I also am more knowledgeable on email marketing, developing a marketing plan, and how to developing our brand further. 

I did not find social media for business, services, and products I want to use myself through this course. However, I have noticed more how many products I decide I want to purchase because I saw it on social media. After noticing this it just reinforced how impactful social media can be for a business.
