Week 9 Part A: Blogs, Vlogs, Podcasts & Webinars

Adding human interest and/or a personal touch is very beneficial in the media world. This helps build a connection with your audience. If the audience is able to relate to or empathize with the business somehow there is a higher likelihood for them to be enticed to buy your product if they weren't planning to already. If they were already interested in your product this could help ensure their business. Appealing to a persons emotions can also lead to them being more likely to recommend your product to others. In my experience, people want to do business with people they like. They would rather give there money to a business that they feel a connection to rather than one they have no emotional link with.
Personal touches can be added to almost any social media post. The personal touch choice should be dependent on the content being posted. It is flexible what this personal touch can be in regards to the content. It should work towards the goal of gaining more customers, but does not have to specifically be about the product your selling all the time. However, there are times when personal touches could be perceived as inappropriate. When speaking of a serious matter, such as death, illness, or tragedies, any personal touch should be added with caution. Make sure to not stray from the topic at hand and if any personal touch is added it should directly correlate with the situation. Essentially, personal touches are extremely circumstantial and should be reviewed and analyzed from different perspectives before posting. For our business in particular, we already have an abundance of personal touches. The biggest probably being our name, Flowers Annette Gomez. Not only does it include my mothers name but also our family name. My entire family works for the business and helps with on-site set ups. This also bleeds into our social media. Some examples of personal touches we've used are the story of how my mom fell in love with gardening and floral design, the root of her passion, and how we are a family business.
